Current Projects and Programs

End Violence Leadership Group 2020
This is a six-month leadership training program for a team of Lifers at Graterford Prison (members of Lifers, Inc.) who have taken a stand for ending violence without violence. The two major projects generated by this endeavor are:
  1. Community Healing which concentrates on the healing process of ending violence.
  2. Freedom Project which focuses on commitment to total freedom of soon to be released inmates.

This program provides an opportunity for long term incarcerated people to make a difference and to participate in the process of ending violence.

The program is successful; we are expanding the program to include lager number of participants and volunteers.

End Violence Support
A program presented at two major Community Correction Centers #2 and #4 located in the North Philadelphia area. The two basic components of this program are:

  1. Computer skill training for newly released inmates and is delivered by a professional computer instructor.
  2. Weekly meeting of the residents and volunteers from the outside communities.

The commitment of this program is to provide appropriate tools and support for successful re-integration of the ex-offenders into the community, the job market and family life.

End Violence Facilitators program
A six- month training and development program designed to transform ex-inmates into End Violence experts. These expert facilitators conduct and facilitate powerful classroom discussions to divert our youths from violent behavior.

Computer Training Classes
A total of 40 classes in Basic Computing were given at Community Corrections Centers #2 and #4 during 1998 and 1999. The course covers word processing, computer terminology, and an introduction to spreadsheets, digital photos, computer graphics and drawing.

Projects Under Development

  • End Violence Resource Center: A community based Center that provides valuable resources to ex-offenders so they can in turn break the costly and vicious cycle of recidivism. Follow the links to learn more about the Resource Center.
  • Model course in computer training with expanded facilities, equipment and different levels of instruction.
